Throughout my practice as an artist, a main focus of mine has been to get across a dreamy, ethereal feeling using subtle marks. This is most often using my tool of choice, watercolour, which encourages the fluidity, softness and simplicity that I like. I use this style in my portraits, aiming to paint just enough to express the likeness and emotion of an individual. To further explore certain emotions and concepts, I have made short animations using both digital and traditional media – applying movement has been a way for me to extend certain ideas and go a bit deeper. With any work I do, I am continuously inspired by music and different art forms that have a dream-like quality, taking the observer away for a moment. Coming from a non-artistic background with regards to my education and work, I am still learning as I go, and am having fun seeing where the art takes me!
